Over the course of 4 weeks, we will discover our self, personality, and artist perspective as we use various art mediums to express and create. This creative expression blends foundations in drawing, painting, collage, sculpture as well as individuality, whimsy, and exploration. All levels are welcome.
st class: Self Portraits. We create self-portraits with drawing and painting in monochromatic watercolor paint. Inspired by our self-portrait image we create a monoprint and learn the basics of this printmaking medium.
nd class: Selfie-The Box! The student Artist brings one box (amazon, 10 x 6 x 6 approx.) from home. We deconstruct our box to represent our self. Inside/outside with paint, and magazine clippings as we create art with scissors. Fun exploration and transformation of an everyday object.
rd class: Selfie-Plaster Masks. Who are you? how do others see you? The students create 2 face masks using plaster sheets. Each student creates their own with the assistance of the teacher. Students will paint and add collage materials to express who they are and express how others see the student.
th class: What animal do you identify with? Which Chinese zodiac animal are you? I am a Horse (depends on the year you are born)! We will create a painted paper assemblage of the animal you pick. A fun extension of your self-expression. You paint and texturize the paper and layout and design your animal.
