She started working in local nonprofit, city government and arts organizations. In 2022 she (re)joined Redux Contemporary Art Center as Exhibition & Studio Director.
Carson Carroll, Education & Outreach Director
In 2013, Carson Carroll spent the summer in an intensive high-school art program held at Redux Contemporary Art Center, in its original location on St. Philips St. This is where she first discovered a love for the contemporary art world. Redux helped jump-start Carson’s career in the visual arts and showed her the importance of art education and having access to the art world. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Winthrop University in 2019. After receiving her undergraduate degree and taking some time to travel, Carson spent two years serving as a 1st-8th grade art educator. During the summer of 2021, Carson served as Redux’s Education Fellow and then transitioned into the full-time role of Education and Outreach Coordinator in the summer of 2022.
Stepping into the Education and Outreach role at Redux, Carson is ready to grow the program by increasing and diversifying the reach of Redux’s resources to the community. She is excited to continue working with a growing team of talented teaching artists, Redux’s staff, board, interns, and volunteers, to create programs that offer a wide range of arts education for all ages. Carson’s commitment to the arts and long history in Charleston will allow her to grow relationships with community organizations, individuals, students, and schools that are crucial and are what continue to be at the center of Redux’s education and outreach programming.
Kate Ledbetter, Development Committee Chair
A longtime community supporter of Redux’s mission and a deep love and involvement in the arts led Kate to this dynamic hub of creativity. Kate grew up on Hilton Head Island and moved to Charleston in 1998 to study Historic Preservation at the College of Charleston. Kate’s love of the built environment and the stories it relays of the history of people led Kate to Drayton Hall, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, where she worked for many years and established an understanding of the important work being done in Charleston through non-profit organizations. Kate went on to work for the South Carolina Aquarium and Charleston Collegiate School, all the time deeply immersed in the local preservation, conservation, music and arts scenes.

Shannon Mayo McBride, Board Studio Artist Representative
Shannon Mayo McBride is a nonobjective painter, who spent the majority of her life in the Portland, Oregon area and is now based in Charleston, South Carolina.
Having dabbled in various media throughout her career, she has recently returned to her painting roots. Her mixed media paintings rely heavily on compositional elements, a formalist at heart; color, line, shape and texture play a dominate role in her work. The context of the work, including the reason for its existence, the background, and the life of the artist, that is, its conceptual aspect she considers to be of secondary importance.
Buff Ross
Buff Ross founded Alloneword Design to focus his services on museums, artists and other cultural organizations, in addition to commercial clients. Prior to this he served as the Assistant Director and curator for The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art. His life is littered with a rangy collection of other occupations including roofer, painter, associate professor, cook, ship worker, fishmonger, potter’s assistant, archeologist and budding restaurateur.
Kassandra von Etzdorf
Kassandra von Etzdorf was born in Manhattan to a Canadian mother and British father. She’s lived in New York, Toronto, Montreal, spent lots of time in various places in Europe and the UK, and now, lives full time in Charleston.
Career highlights include time working in lots of different industries – fashion, food, events, and design. Currently, Kass works as a Marketing Manager for a global compliance solutions company, and is happy to report that she learns something new every single day.
Her appreciation for the arts started young, fostered by a very close relationship with her aunt, British textile designer and artist Georgina von Etzdorf. Since she was tiny she has been exposed to the art world’s wonders and challenges, and has come to understand how important it is to support the arts and artists themselves.
Kass spends her days with her husband Pete, young daughter Rory, and sweet pup Izzy, and can’t wait to bring her enthusiasm, unique perspective and experience to the Redux Board.

As an NC undergrad, he was the regional student rep/curator for the 4D Gallery, Dada Center of the Arts, and the University Gallery. He moved back to Charleston to pursue his career in arts management. Greg curated the 2016 Piccolo Spoleto City Gallery exhibition and the Clemson University Art Department CSA. He was a juror for the Greenville Artisphere festival, Charleston Parks Conservancy, Coastal Community Foundation Lowcountry Artist of the Year, and the North Charleston Arts Fest.
