Christine Patterson
MEDIUM: Photography & Painting
Artist Statement
With over 35 years in fine art photography, the work has evolved from capturing images to constructing layered experiences.
Working through image, paint, and time, ordinary moments are reinterpreted as felt experience. Through both analogue and digital processes, attention is drawn to subtle shifts in light, surface, and presence.
These images inform mixed media paintings, where layers are built through mark-making, collage, and paint—revealing and concealing in equal measure.
Marks function as quiet moments of awareness—less descriptive, more present—holding space rather than defining it.
The work remains open, inviting the viewer to slow down, look closer, and discover their own meaning within the surface.
