Stephania FRX was born and raised in Mexico and moved to the US when she was 17. She lived in Denver CO for 10 years and now lives in CHS SC. She has practiced “Art” since she can remember, starting with watercolor and crayons and graduating to markers and fancy colored pencils. She started painting with oil at 11 and hasn’t stopped ever since. Her earliest work was very true to her “old world” classic training but these days she is all about experimentation. Her current studio mantra is ” Practice makes perfect but it doesn’t make new”
Stephania’s work can be described as imaginative yet decisive, ambitious yet private, amazingly curious. A paradox to most observers. Bewilderingly deep. Original ideas and soft coolness, focusing on the experiences and sensations of the immediate, physical world.
Seeking to protect what is familiar, the work draws upon historical symbolism to evoke feelings and memories, creating more opportunities to create an emotional connection with the audience. This imaginative play weaves together insights and experiences from various sources to form a new whole, which can then become a catalyst to action.
The work is built to inspire the audience to find and interpret hidden meanings, using “what if” questions to explore alternatives and to allow multiple possibilities to coexist.
