Rebecca Dew

Rebecca is an abstract expressionist artist residing in Charleston, South Carolina creating high-vibe colorful, free-flowing pieces for the home and commercial settings.

As a self-taught artist, she primarily paints using acrylics, but also enjoys mixed mediums such as oil pastels, gouache, charcoal and watercolor. Her creative process is inspired by energy gathered from her love for Mother Nature, intuition, wilderness exploration, and often-music. Through her work as an artist and a pediatric nurse, Dew desires to connect, inspire, and revitalize the community through bridging art and medicine together.

Rebecca spent her childhood in the countryside of Great Britain. Her fondest memories are from roaming the Lake District and exploring the outdoors. She attended the College of Charleston for her undergraduate degree and minored in studio art but was guided to follow a more straightforward major guaranteeing a stable career in the corporate world. Working in the non-profit sector, her “corporate world” always had great passion behind it- with a desire to connect with the community and live a life with great meaning. This sentiment led her to nursing -currently working as a Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse at MUSC Children’s Hospital in Charleston, SC. Dew incorporates her work as a pediatric nurse into her creative process by collaging her handwritten ICU patient report sheets as mixed media into abstraction. Weaving her passions for community, healing and art together has been a gift.
