In this 4-hour workshop, we will closely examine the human figure specifically through the eyes of the old Masters. We will explore traditional concepts related to anatomy, observation, and techniques using common drawing materials like Charcoal, Graphite, and Conte.
With guidance from your instructor, the first half of the class will be dedicated to understanding anatomical proportions and recreating specific Master Drawings by the likes of Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and Charles Bargue. Paying close attention to how these artists break down form, structure, and mark in different ways; the goal is to absorb their visual vocabulary so that it can be implemented into your own.
The techniques from the first part of the workshop will be utilized in the last half when drawing from life from a nude figure model.
Materials are provided though if you would like to supply your own, a materials list is available on request – please email megan@reduxstudios.org for this information.
In consideration of COVID health and safety precautions, space is limited and masks are required.
