Building upon a basic drawing skill set, this course allows each student to determine: What makes a compelling drawing? Relying on contrast, texture, light condition, balance, and point of view, this course will continue our search for composition. Working with charcoal, students will be challenged with how the application of media and mark-making creates a variety of visual effects. Analyzing proportion and placement through hands-on practice, students will continue developing their own drawing techniques and visual language. Still life set-ups will be brought to life with more open-ended assignments, continuing personalized critique from the instructor, and group critique with instructor and peers. This is a perfect course for students who took Charcoal Drawing: Exploring the Still Life but beginners are welcome as well!
