Dates: Wednesdays, February 19th and 26th, 2020 Location: 2/19: The Gibbes Museum, 2/26: Redux Contemporary Art Center Time: 6:00-8:30pm Instructor: Olivia Ruxton Ages: 16+ Cost: $150 for Redux or Gibbes Members / $165 for NonMembers In this workshop
In this workshop we will explore the exhibition “A Return to the Grand Tour” on view at the Gibbes Museum with a private tour of Elizabeth Locke’s collection where we will learn about jewelry history and fabrication techniques of micromosaics. Then we will take that knowledge and create wearable micromosaics of our own! Each student will choose their subject matter, draft a design, and craft their own mosaic from stained glass in a sterling silver pendant. We are thrilled to partner with Redux Contemporary Art Center and Redux artist Olivia Ruxton for this one of a kind workshop!
All materials will be provided, and everyone will leave with a completed sterling silver necklace.
