Join local chef Nikko Cagalanan from Mansueta’s Filipino Food and Redux studio artist, Daisy McClellan for a special Lumpia Workshop at Redux Contemporary Art Center on Sunday July 10th from 11am-1p. This class is an extension of the collaboration between these two creatives about lumpia, currently on view as part of Creative Corridors: The Annual Redux Studio Artist Exhibition.
Lumpia is a traditional Filipino dish similar to a spring roll, filled with either savory or sweet ingredients and fried. Nikko’s recipes have been handed down by his grandmother for whom he named his business. Nikko has deep fond memories of his grandmother cooking three meals a day for him and his siblings. No need for an alarm clock when the wafting smells from your grandmother’s kitchen can wake you.
In this special class, Nikko will lead students in making lumpia from start to finish. They will leave with recipes to take home as well as full bellies and hearts. Daisy will also teach everyone how to make a keepsake soy candle made with fresh and vibrant Filipino cuisine scents.
Space is limited.
