Beginning with the skull, moving through to the structure of the face and neck muscles, and then on to facial features, this class will be a 6-week in depth study of the human portrait through the process of drawing. Working from life, we will explore gesture, structure, proportions, and anatomy of the portrait. This course will also focus on the expressive qualities of drawing by experimenting with different drawing approaches and mediums including pencil, charcoal, and pen. This class builds on foundational drawing courses and emphasizes the importance of drawing from observation.
