Age: 17+
This 6-week class will be an in-depth study of the human figure through the
process of drawing. From the skeletal and muscular structures of the body to its outer features, we will explore gesture, structure, proportions, and the anatomy of the human figure and portrait. This course will also focus on the expressive qualities of drawing by experimenting with different approaches and mediums including pencil, charcoal, and pen. This course builds on foundational drawing courses and emphasizes the importance of drawing from observation. This class will incorporate drawing from a live unclothed model.
All materials included for in-class use, however, if you would like to gather your own supply, Katelyn recommends the following:
– Small sketchbook (8”x10”-11”x14”)
-14”x17” drawing pad, Strathmore or Canson
-14”x17” or 18”x24” size Newsprint pad
-Micron Pens, set of 3
-Kneaded eraser
-White vinyl Click Eraser
-Factis white vinyl eraser
-Drawing pencils: 2H, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B (at least)
-M+R double hole pencil sharpener
-Vine Charcoal
-Compressed Charcoal
-Charcoal Pencils, one black and one white
-1 Can Spray Fix (shared class use)
-Tracing paper (1 pad or roll for shared class use)
