Join artist Daisy McClellan and reiki master Christian McClellan at Redux Contemporary Art Center for a relaxing and meditative candle making workshop.
Local artist Daisy McClellan will teach you the history of candle making and how to make your very own soy candles from beginning to end. You’ll go home with a candle mixed with your very own scent combinations using a variety of fragrance oils and dried flowers. Select a crystal to put in your candle to infuse it with energy.
Local reiki master and energy healer, Christian McClellan will then guide you through the practice of candle meditation, a powerful way to decrease stress in your life. No experience required.

“Future Ready Education Initiative,” a Charleston-based youth organization, is kicking off their partnership with Redux with a class focusing on emotional intelligence and the arts!
This 4-week class is for ages 15-20, and is focused on offering you a place to connect with and explore your emotions by using a variety of art forms.
This is a time of discovery using whatever art form feels most comfortable for you. All you need is a willingness to be present and to participate. We will offer a space to explore the relationship between emotion, art, and the resilience that can come from creativity. Emotions sometimes seem too difficult to process and understand. For this reason, we have asked artists from a variety of mediums to come and share how their own awareness of emotions plays a part in their art forms.
“Creativity is the primary guide in this space, and here it has no limits. We welcome you to this opportunity to express the uniqueness you carry.”

For many, writing feels daunting, more chore than play. There are all those rules
(Ack! grammar; Ugh ~ syntax!), and then there’s the small problem of the blank
page. Plus, nearly all writers, whether highly accomplished or newbies, fall prey to insecurity, ego, and expecting too much of ourselves. Friends, we ain’t got time for that. This workshop is the antidote to all that daunts.
Through readings, prompts and exercises, we’ll put ego aside and loosen up the
creative muscles. If you’re looking to start or evolve a writing practice, or get past
feeling stuck or stale, this if for you. Our approach is playful and positive, and our
goal is to help you discover that writing can be joyful, fun and rewarding.
*This workshop will recur monthly on the last Wednesday of each month. Be sure to register in advance for any session!* Every month’s session will offer new prompts and fresh perspectives – register for each session you’d like to attend and as often as you like!
