I have collected images, techniques, and ideas during my 40-year teaching journey. As a professional art educator, during summers I traveled to many countries gathering facts and images as I worked to inspire my students while meeting their need to learn more about the world through art. During this process I also earned a Ph.D. in Art Education focused on the ability of art to prepare students for life in and out of the classroom including possible strategies to address digital life.
With my recent retirement from public education, I am focused on painting, mixed media, and collage work. Nature is my primary inspiration—the flowers both wild and propagated, lush plant life, as well as the winding waterways that surround and flow through the Low Country. The joy I find in the creative process is necessary for me. Through my art I attempt to convey the feeling of joy and wonder nature provides.
