Redux offers a range of classes and camps for young people that provide exciting contemporary visual art experiences. The classes and workshops currently offered are listed below. Teenagers over the age of 17 are invited to participate in a selection of adult classes/workshops.

Registration Policy: Advance registration is required. Classes may be subject to cancellation if not enough students register in advance.

There are no refunds on classes, but we will happily give you credit for a class if there is proper notice, should you need to cancel your registration for any reason.
>Full credit up to two weeks before the class
>Half credit if you cancel the week before class begins
>No credit if you cancel day of the first class or after

SUMMER SESSION 2:  June 18-22, 2018    
AM: 9-11:30am   Heroes & Villains: Comic Character Creation! w/ Jonathan Carrington
Comic books have been a staple in pop culture and everyday life for almost a century. Even today as they have evolved they have also remained the same. In this class, we will learn the basic steps and techniques of conceptualizing your own character, using proportion, and developing a unique look and identity to your character! 
Bring your ideas, your creativity, and your sketchbooks!  
*If staying for a full-day of programming, bring a bagged/boxed lunch! 

PM: 12-2:30pm Drawing People & Telling a Story! w/ Redux artist Mia Loia
Enhance your drawing skills by learning more about drawing the human figure, in a way that can help you better tell a story! Design characters or work with ideas you already have, and learn more about how to draw them in various poses, and how to best incorporate people into your artwork and story illustrations! 

All materials provided, though students are encouraged to bring their own preferred materials and sketchbook as well.  
*If staying for a full-day of youth programming, be sure to bring a lunch! 

Cost: 1 week, 1/2 day (AM or PM session only) $140 Member / $175 NonMember  
            1 week, full day (both sessions)  $280 Member / $350 NonMember

Art Portfolio Development – Private Lessons

Are you an elementary, middle, or high school student wanting extra help with your portfolio?  Need help developing your portfolio for SOA, Governor’s School, A.P. Studio Art, or college admission/scholarship?  Advanced Placement certified teacher, SCAD graduate, and Redux studio artist Megan Collier-Bansil (MFA) has 10+ years teaching  experience elementary through college-level, including six+ years experience teaching A.P. Studio Art, and is available for private lessons in 2D, Drawing, and 3D.

Private Lessons – Jewelry Making

Rebecca McMenemy is available to teach private lessons in a variety of jewelry techniques. She can start with the basics, such as stringing and finishing of beaded jewelry or we can work on different metalsmithing projects – basic soldering and metal forging, bezel setting, form folding, jewelers saw, or any projects that the student may already have in mind.  Rebecca McMenemy graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.A. in Art History. Studying Art History exposed her to many different design styles and mediums. Though she has dabbled in many different genres over the years, jewelry has always been a passion for her. 

Cost: $60 per hour Members
           $65 per hour NonMembers

About Education Program

Integral to the Redux mission is to educate our community about current practices in art through both an academic and hands on approach. Redux offers year-round art classes and workshops to the public for both kids and adults. Over 100 classes and workshops are available throughout the year covering a variety of topics both traditional and non-traditional. We have a class for everyone, whether you are a beginner or more advanced artist looking to broaden and enhance your talents.

Our classes are affordable, fun, challenging and taught by talented local qualified instructors. Courses include painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, art history and much more. All courses are timed to fit the schedules of working people and are taught by working professional artists. Through our classes, workshops and studio space, we provide the guidance and resources you need to bring your creativity and passion to life.
