Transit Antenna: 365 (and some change)
Mar 21, 2009On Saturday March 21, Redux Contemporary Art Center hosted an evening with Transit Antenna–a Redux-sponsored project–exhibiting films, photos, drawings, and paintings produced by the group during their 20,000 miles and 365 days (and some change) on the road. Visitors came out to help the Trantenna crew celebrate the first year of this two-year project at this special event, and came prepared to test their might against WALTER the bus!
Transit Antenna is Bob, Dawn, and Taylor Snead, Seth Gadsden, Jamie Self, Josef and Amy Kristofoletti, and Kentridge, the dog. They live and work on a city transit bus they turned into a home that runs on waste vegetable oil, available for free in dumpsters across America. On the road they make art, eat well, wield wrenches, and try to find creative uses for trash. In the middle of a two-year journey across North America, they returned to Charleston for a brief pit stop.
