Yukon:
Yukon is Nick Podgurski, Sam Garrett and Brad Smith. The Baltimore trio’s music manifests as the sum of its collective. Musical direction undergoes a constant ebbing and flowing but the process remains static. Among a vast sea of influence, Yukon’s greatest influences are one another. Yukonis the product of three extremely varied and dynamic paths/backgrounds in collaboration.
The follow up to 2006′s MORTAR (terrafirmarecords), MEDALLION (Infinite Limbs) contains material from a highly transitional year for Baltimore’s YUKON. While still featuring bassist Brad Smith and drummer Nick Podgurski (Extra Life), MEDALLION is the first recorded material with guitarist Sam Garrett (Hex Screw) and the last material with founding member Denny Bowen (Double Dagger/Smart Growth). MEDALLION’S 4 tracks: Zero Gravity Chamber, Medallion, Hotel, and Totem Pole, also capture Podgurski’s entry into drummer/vocalist territory. Linked but not locked into what groundwork MORTAR laid down; MEDALLION is an appropriate starting point for YUKON past, present and future and offers a small glimpse into what sounds may come from the now trioYUKON.
Polka Dot Dot Dot
Polka Dot Dot Dot is a trio of traveling minstrels composed of Jordan O’Jordan (Jordan Smith), Onyx of Olympia, and Miss Spindleheart (Colleen Johnson). The three met in the magical realm of Olympia, Washington, but they started playing music together when their paths crossed and their particles collided in Auckland in January 2007. Their blend of banjo/harp/ukulele/guitar/clapgame music draws heavily from American folk, but finds inspiration in everything from Medieval rounds to ghost-lover ballads.
