Month Long Celebration of the Print in collaboration with the Gibbes Museum of Art
Feb 1-29, 2009The Gibbes Museum of Art and Redux Contemporary Art Center partnered to bring
a Month Long Celebration of the Print! This partnership was the beginning of a yearlong
project that provided as much artistic exposure to the Charleston area at
the most convenient price possible. February consisted of hands-on printmaking
workshops at Redux and site visits to the Gibbes Museum of Art which introduced students to
multi-medium printing techniques and the history behind this “backwards” art form.
Redux offered several printmaking workshops, followed by guided tours of the
Printmaking exhibition which showed at The Gibbes through April 26, 2008. Students
became familiar with a professional print studio, and were introduced to the breadth of the
print collection at The Gibbes Museum, while remaining focused on the specific printmaking
processes used to create the works. Museum site visits were on the last three Saturdays
in February at 1pm.

Registration started on January 16 for hands-on printmaking workshops that took place at Redux, with site visits to the Gibbes. Students were introduced to multi-medium printing techniques and the history behind this “backwards” art form.
