“Mono” meaning one, and “type” indicating a printmaking process, Monotype has been used throughout artistic history for a little more than 300 years. Although not a “true” printing process in that the end product is only one original piece, it has had a recent resurgence in the artistic community due to its appeal as a fresh painterly process.
Spend 3 weeks learning how to create Monotypes with an introduction, history, filing of plates, and hands-on making of monotypes. Students will learn the difference between Monotypes and Monoprints, and be encouraged to learn, play, and have fun!
