This performance was organized by Receiver Time Based Media Festival.
Ian Mozdzen studied literature and performance in Canada, co-founds a Winnipeg-based devised theatre company (out of line theatre), and develops solo/collaborative performances. His work has been performed across Canada and in the United States.
Infinity Land is named after a childhood game played by serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (1960-94, 17 victims, 957-year prison sentence). The game: if a man touches another man he is swallowed up into nothingness.
Embracing a serial killer of his own devising, Infinity Land sees creator/performer Ian Mozdzen experience victim and killer crisis — clownishly marching through a gauntlet of punishing games… incessant balloon popping, emptying bottles of air freshener, drinking bottles of mustard, threatened suffocation by plastic bag, unstoppable bat swinging, draining imaginary obstacle courses, lunatic sing-song, mustard squirting spasms …These caustic actions are interwoven with theatrical anecdotes that are as tender as they are terrifying.
