/ ABOUT THE EVENT /

Vialka hail from deepest France, via everywhere and nowhere. They are a devilishly high-spirited guitar/drums duo who tour hard and fast across the world. Their music skips joyfully across borders, channeling desert blues, Chinese folk songs, scatter rock and European gypsy song dynamics in a whirlwind of dervish energy. Their endless gypsy punk folk rock tales, hard hitting poly-rhythms and yelps and howls make for a danceable and intoxicating brew. Their openness to new sounds and cultures makes you feel alive and shows that 'world punk rock' need not be a dirty phrase. Vialka will be passing through Charleston on a world tour that also includes treks through China and Australia. Find more at http://www.vialka.com or http://www.myspace.com/vialka.

Oicho Kabu is a 6 piece string, drum, vocal and sometimes horn ensemble who has been striving to bring musical ideas from every time, place and mythology of the world into their songs. Influences range from French pop to Rio Carnival to traditional spirituals and woodland creatures. Oicho Kabu began as a duo in 2005 with guitarist Chad Pirtle and drummer Mustafa Walker performing in Charleston living rooms. Since then they have expanded, released two full length albums, and been on five tours. This will be Oicho Kabu's last performance as its members will be moving on to attend graduate school and embark on other creative endeavors.

Opening the show will be 23 Eyeballs and One Asshole, the new melodic post-softrock, glitch, and surf/noise project of Bill Carson and Ron Wiltrout.
