A MONTH LONG CELEBRATION OF THE PRINT
The Gibbes Museum of Art and Redux Contemporary Art Center are partnering to bring
you a Month Long Celebration of the Print! This partnership is the beginning of a yearlong
project that hopes to provide as much artistic exposure to the Charleston area at
the most convenient price possible. February will consist of hands-on printmaking
workshops at Redux and site visits to the Gibbes Museum of Art introducing students to
multi-medium printing techniques and the history behind this "backwards" art form.
Redux will be offering several printmaking workshops followed by guided tours of the
Printmaking exhibition showing at The Gibbes through April 26, 2008. Students will
become familiar with a professional print studio and be introduced to the breadth of the
print collection at The Gibbes Museum, while focusing on the specific printmaking
processes used to create the works. Museum site visits will be on the last three Saturdays
in February at 1pm.
