/ 2008 SUMMER ART INSTITUTE /
The Redux Summer Art Institute is an educational program presented in cooperation with the Charleston County School District for High School students with talents in the visual arts. All Art Institute Professors are working artists who have devoted their lives to the art they produce. These artists create a vibrant and energetic environment that will help to encourage the students to recognize and use their talents in high school and beyond.
In the Summer of 2003, the school district ran the Summer Art Institute for the first time. Ten students learned techniques in large scale painting, and the work produced by these students was remarkable. Because of the overall program success, the Charleston County School District teamed up with Redux to expand the program. This year 30 talented high school students will be selected to have five days (9am-3pm) of intense training. This program will give each student a portfolio to prepare them for applications to College, Advanced Placement Art classes, or Governor's School. The program is truley a unique experience in the students' high school career.
Cost:
The program is free to all students so that no one will be limited by economic disadvantage. However, it is not free to run such a program. Most of the funding for the SAI is generated from donations by the generous members of Redux. It costs approximately $300 per student for their concentrated instruction and materials.
If you would like to make a tax deductible contribution to sponsor a student, contact Redux.
