How to Get Involved

Dedicated interns and volunteers are an integral part of Redux’s ability to bring contemporary arts programming to the public. Volunteer and internship hours can be used for high school or college credit, resumé building, and experience. If you’re interested, please consider the following opportunities.

Special Events Volunteers

Special Events Volunteers assist with events like Double Vision, Membership Celebration, Annual Art Auction and artists’ receptions. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, selling tickets, setting up and tearing down decorations and refreshment tables, serving food, bussing tables, and tending bar.

Redux Street Team

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to get the word out about upcoming events and help distribute promotional materials.

Administrative Assistants

Administrative Assistants provide office support and assist with front desk reception. Duties include greeting patrons and answering phones, ticket, membership and t-shirt sales, mailings, and small clerical projects.

Internships

Internship positions are available for college students with an interest in arts management and nonprofit administration. The intern is responsible for working 10 hours per week assisting the Executive Director and Director of Development in maintaining and developing all programming. Most importantly, the intern works with the Executive Director to install visual arts exhibitions. They will be asked to assist in all aspects of gallery preparation and installation, such as packing/unpacking works of art, painting, and adjusting lighting. Due to many work requests, Redux kindly asks that students email or mail a current resume and a brief statement outlining their interest in working with the organization.

Derrin Compton

Intern

Derrin Compton recently earned his Masters degree in Arts Administration from the Savannah College of Art and Design and now works at the Old Exchange in Charleston. He completed his Bachelors degree at Winthrop University in Studio Arts, focusing on ceramics. Derrin is from Greenville, South Carolina, and is excited about living in Charleston and working with Redux!

Amy Thomson is a senior at the College of Charleston majoring in Communications with a focus in journalism and a minor in Spanish. She is excited to use her public relations and writing skills towards her passions: art and Charleston culture. She was raised volunteering and fundraising for grassroots and nonprofit organizations and is thrilled to be an intern at Redux!

Alli Harbeck

Alli Harbeck is a junior at the College of Charleston, majoring in Art History and International Business, and minoring in French. Alli is from Wilmington, North Carolina and grew up thinking she would pursue a career in mathematics or science, but instead found herself captivated by the arts. She looks forward to sharing the arts with people throughout her life. She is thrilled to be immersed in the Charleston art scene through her internship with Redux and excited about all that is to come!

Hilary Zurhorst

Hilary Zurhorst is a senior at the College of Charleston, majoring in Art History, and minoring in Studio Art. She is from Columbus, Ohio and has always had a strong enthusiasm for the arts, whether it’s making art or learning about it.  Most of all she enjoys drawing and painting in her free time. Charleston has brought out the best in her passion for the arts and she is excited to work at such an amazing nonprofit institution like Redux!

Jourdan DeVies

Jourdan DeVies is a senior at the College of Charleston, majoring in Art History and minoring in Film Studies. In high school, Jourdan traveled to Paris and discovered her love of art through the museums, galleries, and the vibrant streets. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she has continued her study of art in Charleston and in her free time enjoys traveling, cooking, and photography.  She is enthusiastic about interning at Redux and becoming involved with the diverse range of contemporary art exhibitions.

Chelsea Michael

Chelsea Michael is a junior at the College of Charleston, majoring in Arts Management and Studio Art, with a concentration in painting. Chelsea discovered her love of the visual arts at a young age, and since coming to college she has discovered her enthusiasm for working with arts nonprofit organizations. Chelsea was raised just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, and she loves the vibrancy of the Charleston arts scene. Chelsea enjoys drawing, painting, cooking, traveling, and being outdoors. She hopes to continue learning about the visual arts and is looking forward to her time working with Redux.
